Color: An Intensive Exploration
Meets Thursdays, May 22, 29, and June 5 from 10 - 12 PM
In this series of classes led by local artist Kim Weineck, we’ll learn how to describe, mix, match, and identify colors with lessons in color and art history and discuss the science of color and light. If you are interested in color (artists, painters, designers, crafters, etc.) then this class is right for you, but please understand: this is a DEEP DIVE into color theory.
Each class will be busy with practical exercises like mixing and presentations and there will be homework! It’s optional, but classes won’t be as useful or relevant if it’s not completed.
We’ll study the color wheel, the vocabulary of color, color mixing, color relationships, and contrasts. All of it is interesting and fun!
NOTE: A Winsor Newton acrylic gouache set of 10 is strongly suggested for this class so each lesson will yield similar results for everyone. This set is priced around $20 and available at Michael’s and other art supply stores. You will also need watercolor paper, brushes, a water container, a sturdy support for your paper, cleaning rags, etc. Please email kimweineck@gmail.com with any questions!
